Lewa Wildlife Conservancy lies in northern Kenya and takes in the dense Ngare Ndare Forest, covering around 97 square miles. It was established in 1995 and falls within a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Conservation is the core of what Lewa does, with a strong focus on rhino protection and anti-poaching. It is recognised for the success of its breeding programmes for two endangered species in particular: rhino and Grevy’s zebra.
For visitors that translates into a species list difficult to match elsewhere in Kenya. Grevy’s zebra, sitatunga and the rarely seen black rhino are all found here, and the conservancy’s wildlife is abundant across its varied country.
