Half-Day Nairobi National Park Tour
A same-day Kenya excursion designed to show a clear entry price, optional private upgrades, and enough context for clients to compare city experiences quickly.
Lake Naivasha is the highest of the Rift Valley lakes and, unusually for the chain, a freshwater one. Its extent shifts substantially with rainfall — commonly around 140 square kilometres — and it is fringed with papyrus, yellow-barked acacia and drowned fever trees that give the shoreline its distinctive look.
The lake is best experienced from the water. Boat trips take you among hippo pods and past fish eagles, pelicans, cormorants and herons; over 400 bird species have been recorded around the lake, making it one of Kenya’s great birding destinations. Crescent Island, a private sanctuary on the eastern shore, has no predators and can be walked on foot among giraffe, zebra, waterbuck and impala.
Naivasha is about 90 kilometres from Nairobi and sits at the centre of the Rift Valley circuit, an easy hour from Hell’s Gate and close to Mount Longonot and Lake Elementaita. Its lodges make a comfortable base for exploring the whole area, and the surrounding farms supply a large share of the world’s cut flowers.
Year-round. June to October and January to February are driest, while birdlife peaks between November and April when migrants arrive.
A private sanctuary on the eastern shore with no predators, so visitors can walk among giraffe, zebra, waterbuck and impala — a rare chance to be on foot with plains game.
A guided trip across the lake among hippo pods and past the drowned fever trees, with African fish eagles regularly called down to fish within a few metres of the boat.
Joy Adamson’s lakeside home, now a conservation centre and museum, open for afternoon tea on the lawn with colobus monkeys in the surrounding trees.
