Half-Day Nairobi National Park Tour
A same-day Kenya excursion designed to show a clear entry price, optional private upgrades, and enough context for clients to compare city experiences quickly.
Lake Bogoria lies in a narrow trough on the floor of the Rift Valley in Baringo County, hemmed in by the steep Siracho escarpment. The lake is strongly alkaline and shallow, and along its western shore a line of hot springs and geysers vents steam and boiling water directly onto the shoreline — one of the few places in Kenya where the geothermal activity of the Rift is this visible.
The alkalinity supports vast quantities of the blue-green algae that lesser flamingos feed on, and Bogoria regularly holds some of the largest concentrations of lesser flamingo anywhere in the world. Numbers shift between Bogoria, Nakuru and Elementaita as water chemistry changes, but Bogoria has been the most dependable of the three in recent years.
The reserve is also one of the better places in Kenya to see greater kudu, which browse the acacia scrub on the escarpment slopes. Baboon, warthog, dik-dik, zebra and klipspringer are present. Lake Bogoria forms part of the Kenya Lake System in the Great Rift Valley, inscribed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 2011.
A line of vents along the western shore where boiling water and steam erupt beside the lake — the reserve’s signature sight and unusual anywhere in East Africa.
Lesser flamingos gather here in enormous numbers to feed on the lake’s blue-green algae, often forming a continuous pink band along the shoreline.
The steep wall enclosing the lake’s eastern side, with viewpoints over the full length of the water and good ground for spotting greater kudu and klipspringer.

June to October and January to February for dry roads and easier shoreline access; flamingo numbers depend on water chemistry rather than season.
