Unashamedly romantic and beautifully styled, Elsa’s Kopje is sculpted into Mughwango Hill, above the site of George Adamson’s original camp where he raised and released orphan lions long before conservation became fashionable.
Each cottage is crafted around the rocks, with a large bedroom, open sitting room, veranda and spacious bathroom — each with breathtaking views over Meru National Park’s 870 km² / 215,000 acres of authentic African landscape.

Signature Experiences
Game drives in Meru National Park focus on large elephant herds, reticulated giraffe, Grevy’s zebra, lesser kudu and the rhino sanctuary.
Optional bush walks, visits to the Adamson’s grave site, and starlit dinners on the rocks deepen the connection to Meru’s lion-rehabilitation heritage.
Conservation & Community
Elsa’s Kopje is credited with single-handedly saving Meru National Park from oblivion. Before the lodge opened in 1999 there was government talk of de-gazetting the park; the visitor income it generated reversed that trajectory.
The lodge maintains a long partnership with the Born Free Foundation, an international wildlife charity devoted to preserving animal species globally through targeted conservation and education programmes.
