You want the dramatic river crossings. If a National Geographic-style Mara River crossing is on your bucket list, Kenya's Masai Mara between July and October is where you need to be.
You want easy international access. Nairobi's Jomo Kenyatta International Airport has more direct long-haul connections from the UK, US, and Europe, which often means a simpler, cheaper flight in.
You want variety in one country. Kenya packs the Mara, Amboseli (with Kilimanjaro views), Lake Nakuru, and Samburu into a relatively compact, well-developed safari circuit.\
You want the calving season. Between December and March, over 8,000 wildebeest calves are born daily in the Southern Serengeti and Ndutu plains — an incredible predator prey spectacle, and far fewer crowds than the July River crossings.
