What is the David Sheldrick Elephant Orphanage?
Founded in 1977 by Dame Daphne Sheldrick in honour of her late husband David Sheldrick, this centre:
Rescues orphaned baby elephants across Kenya
Provides specialised care and milk feeding programs
Gradually reintegrates elephants into Tsavo National Park

Located within Nairobi National Park, approximately 20-30 minutes from the city centre or JKIA airport.

Visiting Hours
Public Visiting Time:
- Daily: 11:00 AM – 12:00 PM
- See baby elephants feeding and playing in the mud while keepers share each elephant’s rescue story.
Foster Parent Visiting Time:
- 5:00 PM (Advance booking only)
- Exclusive behind-the-scenes experience for foster parents to see the elephants return to their night stockades.
