Journey to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest, home to nearly half of the world’s mountain gorillas. After arriving in Entebbe, take a scenic flight or drive through Uganda’s stunning landscapes. Settle into your lodge and explore or visit the Batwa community. The highlight is a gorilla trek, offering a rare, breathtaking encounter with a habituated gorilla family. After this incredible experience, unwind or explore further before returning to Entebbe, marking the end of an extraordinary adventure.
Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you’ll take a domestic flight or a scenic drive to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to nearly half of the world’s remaining mountain gorillas. If traveling by road, the journey takes approximately 8-10 hours, passing through Uganda’s beautiful landscapes, tea plantations, and small towns. If flying, it’s a 1.5-hour flight to Kihihi or Kisoro Airstrip, followed by a short drive to Bwindi. After checking in at your lodge, you’ll have time to relax, explore the surroundings, or visit a local Batwa community to learn about their traditional forest life. End the day with dinner and an overnight stay at a lodge near the park.
After an early breakfast, you’ll head to the park headquarters for a briefing by Uganda Wildlife Authority rangers. You’ll then embark on a once-in-a-lifetime gorilla trekking experience, hiking through dense forests in search of a habituated gorilla family. The trek can take anywhere from 2 to 6 hours, depending on the gorillas’ location, but the reward is an unforgettable one-hour encounter with these majestic creatures. Watch as they feed, play, and interact in their natural habitat. After the trek, you’ll receive a gorilla trekking certificate before returning to your lodge to relax. Optional activities in the afternoon include a forest nature walk, a visit to a local community, or a Bwindi waterfall hike. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay at your lodge.
After breakfast, you’ll begin your journey back to Entebbe, either by a domestic flight or a full-day scenic drive. If time allows before your international flight, you can visit the Entebbe Botanical Gardens or the Uganda Wildlife Education Center. You’ll then be transferred to the airport for your departure, marking the end of your incredible Bwindi gorilla trekking adventure.
