Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival & Tarangire National Park

Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (or Arusha), you’ll meet your guide and drive to Tarangire National Park, a 2-3 hour journey. Known for its vast elephant herds, ancient baobab trees, and diverse wildlife, Tarangire offers excellent game viewing along the Tarangire River. You’ll embark on an afternoon game drive before heading to your lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 2: Full Day in Tarangire National Park

Today, you’ll explore more of Tarangire, with morning and afternoon game drives. The park is home to lions, cheetahs, leopards, giraffes, and large herds of buffalo, along with over 500 bird species. You may visit the Silale Swamp, a prime spot for predators and elephants, or take an optional walking safari for a closer look at the ecosystem. After a full day of adventure, return to your lodge or camp for another overnight stay.

Day 3: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you’ll travel 1.5 hours to Lake Manyara National Park, a gem known for its lush forests, alkaline lake, and tree-climbing lions. You’ll explore the park’s unique landscapes, spotting elephants, flamingos, hippos, and baboons. In the afternoon, you can visit Mto wa Mbu village for a cultural experience or take a canoeing safari (seasonal) on the lake. You’ll then head to your lodge in Karatu or near Manyara for dinner and an overnight stay.

Day 4: Journey to Lake Natron

Departing in the morning, you’ll embark on a scenic drive to Lake Natron, a remote and stunning soda lake located at the base of Ol Doinyo Lengai, Tanzania’s active volcano. The landscape changes dramatically, with rugged terrain, red-hued mountains, and Maasai villages along the way. Upon arrival, you’ll visit waterfalls in the Engaresero Gorge, where you can take a refreshing dip. End the day with dinner and an overnight stay at a lodge or tented camp near the lake.

Day 5: Lake Natron Exploration

Wake up early to witness the stunning sunrise over Lake Natron, where thousands of flamingos create a pink spectacle against the alkaline waters. You can take a guided walk along the lake, learning about its unique ecosystem and its significance as a breeding site for flamingos. For the adventurous, an optional hike up Ol Doinyo Lengai (a demanding overnight trek) can be arranged. After a full day of exploration, you’ll return to your lodge for dinner and rest.

Day 6: Serengeti National Park

After breakfast, you’ll leave Lake Natron and drive to Serengeti National Park, passing through breathtaking landscapes. Arriving in the Serengeti, you’ll begin an afternoon game drive, spotting the Big Five, cheetahs, hyenas, and large herbivore herds. As the sun sets, you’ll check in at your lodge or tented camp for dinner and an overnight stay in the Serengeti.

Day 7: Full Day in Serengeti National Park

A full day of game drives awaits as you explore the endless plains of the Serengeti. Depending on the time of year, you may witness the Great Migration, where wildebeests and zebras brave crocodile-infested rivers. You’ll also visit key areas such as the Seronera Valley (a predator hotspot) or the Northern Serengeti for incredible wildlife encounters. After a thrilling day, return to camp for dinner and another night under the Serengeti stars.

Day 8: Ngorongoro Crater

After an early breakfast, you’ll drive toward Ngorongoro Conservation Area, descending 600 meters into the Ngorongoro Crater, a wildlife-rich paradise. The crater is home to lions, rhinos, elephants, and large herds of wildebeest and zebras, all thriving in a stunning volcanic landscape. After a picnic lunch by a hippo pool, you’ll continue exploring before ascending the crater and heading to Karatu or a lodge near the crater for an overnight stay.

Day 9: Lake Eyasi – Cultural Experience with Hadzabe & Datoga Tribes

Today, you’ll drive to Lake Eyasi, a remote and lesser-visited soda lake known for its cultural significance. You’ll visit the Hadzabe tribe (hunter-gatherers) and the Datoga blacksmiths, learning about their traditional hunting, survival skills, and metalwork. If interested, you can join the Hadzabe on a morning hunting expedition. After an immersive cultural experience, you’ll return to your lodge for a final dinner and overnight stay in Karatu or near Lake Eyasi.

Day 10: Arusha & Departure

After breakfast, you’ll drive back to Arusha, where you can explore the Cultural Heritage Center, visit a local coffee plantation, or relax before your flight.
